Monterey Bay F.C. hosted its first-ever Fan Fest at Cardinale Stadium over the weekend, a night that featured a double header with MBFC2 taking on Project 51O followed by Monterey Bay hosting Oakland Roots SC in a Nor Cal derby to round out the evening.

Meal Deals and Free Treats

Alvarado Street Brewery, Kleinfeld BBQ, R-Truck, and more provided Fan-Fest-goers with exclusive food offers and meal deals, while Mmm Churros! and Coastal Roots offered free cotton candy and snow cones for all.

Fun, Games, & Puppies

Animal Friends Rescue Project brought adoptable dogs to the plaza while 360 Party Photos hosted a 360 video booth in the beer garden. Meanwhile, game stations such as giant Jenga and corn hole accompanied several mini soccer goals as pre-match entertainment for all ages.

“We were so delighted to be a part of MBFC’s Fan Fest,” said Aliah Ibarra, Volunteer Coordinator at AFRP. “All of our dogs that attended received applications for adoption and some even had multiple interests. We were able to gain new volunteers and fosters who were so excited to be able to engage with us at the event. We hope to be back again soon.”

Giveaways Galore and Repping the Union

The first 1,000 fans to visit either Team Shop location received a free MBFC drink koozie while the first 1,000 fans through the gates received complimentary Monterey Marriott noisemakers. Plus, several team-signed Light Fighter-edition jerseys were raffled off for fans in attendance.

Monterey Bay Players Jump Into Session One of Club’s First Annual Summer Soccer Camp

SEASIDE, Calif. (Wednesday, June 7, 2023) – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) is hosting the first session of its first annual Summer Soccer Camps this week, aiming to give each participant a fun, positive and challenging environment to enhance their skills. Kids aged 6-13 signed up to participate in this week’s session to train with and learn from the MBFC technical staff. 

In a fun twist today, those young participants were joined by Monterey Bay F.C. players Simon Dawkins, Chuy Enríquez, Mobi Fehr, James Murphy and Grant Robinson. Each player brought their soccer knowledge to today’s session by helping run skill-enhancing drills and activities at today’s camp, in addition to signing autographs and taking photos.

“The camp went really well today, it’s always good to be out here with the kids,” said Enríquez. “It was really cool to be out here. The kids know us, they know the team, they support the team a lot and they are excited that there are Union players out here. When we are here with them, you can see their faces light up and that right there makes me feel really good. Back when I was in school, I was one of those kids that always wanted the opportunity to learn from a professional player, so it’s great to be out here with them.”

There will be two additional sessions this summer set to take place July 17 – 21 and July 31 – August 4. This week’s session, as well as both future sessions, will run Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. each day during its designated week for a total of 15 hours of professional instruction.

All registered campers in attendance this week and/or during either of the next two sessions will receive a ticket and a parking pass to Monterey Bay’s Back to School Night match against Colorado Springs on August 26, plus one additional ticket to the same match for a guardian. Each camper will also be recognized on the field at this match. In addition, all participants will receive a t-shirt and a water bottle.

Monterey Bay Football Club Hosts Youth Skills Camp with the Pros

SALINAS, Calif. (Monday, August 15, 2022) – Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) hosted the first-ever MBFC Youth Skills Camp at Cardinale Stadium over the weekend. The camp gave around 120 participants the opportunity to train with and learn directly from Monterey Bay F.C. players Seku Conneh, Kai Greene, Walmer Martinez, Adrian Rebollar, Hugh Roberts and Grant Robinson in a camp that aimed to help each participant enhance their skills.

“It was a great first camp, the kids brought a lot of excitement,” said Roberts. “It was good for the community to come out here, you could tell by how excited even the parents were. The kids weren’t shy about coming up to us and asking questions, which was good. It was very impactful, it was a good day.”

The camp was broken up into two sessions by age group, a morning session for kids aged 5-11, and an afternoon session for 12-17 year olds. The players led each session of campers in drills focused on enhancing passing, dribbling and shooting skills, in addition to attacking and defending drills. Once all of the drills were completed, each group participated in a scrimmage to close out their camp session.

“We had fun with the kids, it was a great experience helping out with the first Monterey Bay F.C. camp ever,” said Conneh. “I was happy to be part of it. I am grateful to the staff for helping us. The kids loved it, we got great feedback from the parents. I just hope we can do more camps like this for the community in the future. I think it’s a good step forward.”

For participating in the camp, each camper received a camp t-shirt and an MBFC swag bag containing a water bottle, mini soccer ball, lanyard, and a rally towel. After each session concluded, the players all participated in a Q&A with the campers before taking photos and signing autographs.

“The camp was great. The kids had fun, they enjoyed themselves, and the parents loved it,” Martinez said. “Honestly, we loved having the kids come out with their parents showing their support and love as well. I think it gave great exposure to the kids to see something bigger, to see and learn from the pros. It was a great day.”
