Sporting Director & Head Coach Frank Yallop
On how the match ended:
“We played the game as a whole and we played very well. We at least wanted one goal. Obviously a late goal really hurts, you have no time to get back into the game, but Chase [Boone] had a great first half. Should have done better but it’s not easy and for him he’s a great finisher who normally gets them in. Chuy [Enríquez] had a great chance in the second half so we had a couple of situations and a couple of chances around their goal in the first half. It’s a game of both boxes, you don’t defend your box well enough then you don’t punish them for giving us chances and that’s what ended up as a result. I can’t fault the guys for their effort. We were fantastic with everything we did. Our general play was good, we were exciting to watch. I thought we played well enough to get at least a point out of this game. Disappointing, but we just have to dust ourselves off and get ready for a game Tuesday night against Sacramento.”
On his focus heading into next week:“Basically on Monday morning we’re going to talk about things and try to get the guys healthy and get them going for the game on Tuesday. We’ve created some really good chances and our general play is good. Finishing is the hardest thing in the game, because everyone would score ten goals if it was that easy. We’ll work on that, probably not before we play Sacramento, but towards the end of the week but we do anyway. We work on a lot of pattern play in the final third and it’s showing in our general play and I’m very happy that we’re entering the final third with some good moments. Now we just have to get the finishing touch to those moves. It’s another game we haven’t scored in. Up until last week we scored in every game, so we need to get that right. That’s something we’ll focus on for the next few games.”
Defender Kai Greene
On the match:
“It was a weird game. They had a couple chances and we had some as well. I felt like we were on top of them, especially towards the end. We’re still going to keep battling and although we’re in a slight dip of form right now we have the utmost confidence in each other. This is nothing for us, so we’re just going to dust off and get ready to go again.”
On the Club’s mentality:
“We just stick to who we are, we’re a hardworking blue collar team and our chemistry is outstanding. I’m not worried, the goals will come. It’s a slight slump that will test us mentally as a team but I think we’re built for that and we’re prepared.”
On the team’s attitude heading into next week:
“We just have to work on little mistakes here and there that cost us, it’s nothing major. The scoring will come and the defending will be better. We will keep our winning mentality going forward.”
