Forward Christian Volesky
On how he felt coming into the match:
“It was a must-win. I came on when they received their first red card, basically simultaneously. So I knew I needed to come in and score. It’s up to me to score goals and I got it done by any means necessary.”
On playing in front of a sold-out crowd:
“It was awesome, the fans were great today. Back to School Night was fun and it lifted our energy a lot. It helped us get our three points.”
On ending the scoring drought and the comeback win:
“Hopefully this carries on for the rest of the season. Goals are hard to come by in this league, everybody knows that. We had our rhythm in the beginning of the season and we lost it a little bit, now down the stretch hopefully we can find it. This is an important time of the year, so if we can get that clicking I think we are a team to beat in this league.”
Goalkeeper Carlos Herrera
On the team building momentum:
“I think in general, the group over the last couple of games has grown. We’ve shown desire and will in our game play, although results haven’t reflected it as much as we would like. There’s times in the game where we have to defend for a couple of minutes, but it is a part of the game, so just embrace it and enjoy it. Tonight was a huge three points for the group to build on our last result in San Antonio, so I think it shows that we’re heading in the right direction and that the group is hungry for more wins and hopefully a playoff push.”
On coming from behind to win:
“We understood that they were on the back foot, they were inviting the pressure. You could kind of feel the way the momentum shifted in the game, we understood in that moment that they needed to sit back and bunker in. So I just tried to encourage the team forward and keep ourselves going to try to get a goal like we did. Honestly once we got that one goal I really believed that we were going to turn around and win it, and I’m really happy that it turned out that way.”
On his calm demeanor through chaos as goalkeeper:
“I try to remind myself that I am in a very lucky position. I am grateful to be able to do what I have dreamed about doing my whole life. I take moments to ground myself, take it all in and enjoy it. I think that keeps me a little bit more calm. I am privileged to be doing this, so I keep a level head and enjoy it.”
