MBFC2 Wraps Open Tryouts in Salinas Ahead of Inaugural Season in USL League Two
SALINAS, Calif. (Monday, April 3, 2023) – Monterey Bay F.C. 2 (MBFC2) completed its two-day open tryout just over a month ahead of the development club’s inaugural season in USL League Two. The tryout took place at Alisal High School in Salinas over the past two weekends and saw 120 participants evaluated by Monterey Bay F.C. 2 Head Coach Ramiro Corrales and his staff. Of that list of participants, nearly 85% were either currently living in and/or originally from Monterey County, with the highest number of registrants stemming locally from Salinas itself.
Following the open tryout, MBFC2 will now begin to invite players to a three week training camp as the club finalizes the 2023 roster and ramps up towards the USL League Two regular season opener against San Francisco City FC at Rabobank Stadium in Salinas on Saturday, May 6.
“This has been a real team effort. We’re a club, we’re in this together and we’re all excited to keep going,” expressed Monterey Bay F.C. Club Development Officer Neil Diaz. “We had a massive and overwhelming response to MBFC2 tryouts. The demand to participate was huge, we filled up within 36 hours. Overall, there was a really high level of talent out there – we were really impressed with the attitude and ability of the players when they came in. Now, we get ready to go.”
