Monterey Bay Football Club celebrated Youth Soccer Night at Cardinale Stadium over the weekend as the Union defeated New York Red Bulls II on Saturday, July 23. To begin the night, the first 1,000 kids who entered Cardinale Stadium wearing their youth soccer jerseys were given a complimentary Monterey Bay F.C. wristband.
Ball kids for the match comprised of kids from local club Monterey Surf, while an additional group from Monterey Surf also took part in the night’s walk-out ceremony. In total, youth soccer groups from around the peninsula were in attendance and an MBFC-mini match between youth clubs took place on the pitch during the halftime break.
“I loved the enthusiasm and pure joy that the youth of the community brought to Cardinale Stadium on Saturday night,” said Monterey Bay F.C. President Mike DiGiulio. “Our focus has always been on the youth of Monterey County and to see them come out in great numbers was special. We look forward to building upon the evening and creating more opportunities to recognize our local youth soccer organizations in the future.”
