Monterey Bay Football Club (Monterey Bay F.C.) hosted Back to School Night at Cardinale Stadium during Saturday’s match between Monterey Bay F.C. and LA Galaxy II. Several universities, colleges, high schools, and elementary schools from around the tri-county area were in attendance to represent their institution on the highest recorded night of attendance to date in the club’s short history.
Back to School Night began with the first 1,000 fans who entered Cardinale Stadium receiving a complimentary Monterey Bay F.C. wristband. From there, mascots from local high schools and elementary schools in both Monterey and Santa Cruz counties were present and interacted with the fans throughout the match. Mascots from California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), Monterey Peninsula College, Marina High School, Aptos High School, and El Gabilan Elementary School all made appearances at Cardinale Stadium and participated in a halftime mascot race.
“The atmosphere and energy were fantastic here at Cardinale Stadium for Back to School Night,” said Monterey Bay F.C. President Mike DiGiulio. “Local schools were well represented at the match and the mascots that made it out brought a really enjoyable energy to the experience. We’re looking forward to inviting them out here again sometime.”
